"After the Sun" Original Painting

"After the Sun" is an 11x14 inch acrylic painting on a 1 inch depth birch wood panel.

I love the surprises in this painting. The sgrafitto technique allows luscious pinks and oranges to shine through the thicker layer of earthy brown and green paint on top. The desert comes alive right at dusk, when the sun in behind the horizon the colors become saturated and ripe. The tall cactuses stand guard above the small, prickly under growth.
